Released just in time for the holiday season, MerryGiftmas has quickly emerged as a favorite among board game enthusiasts seeking something special for their holiday parties. Home to a community-centric gameplay experience, Christmas never felt so competitive yet cooperative. Designed by renowned game developers inspired by the themes of unity and generosity synonymous with the holiday season, MerryGiftmas invites players into a world of snowy landscapes, twinkling lights, and fully-decorated Christmas trees.

The game board depicts a bustling holiday village preparing for the most magical time of the year. With benevolent elves, cunning strategists, and diligent planners among its player characters, MerryGiftmas stokes the flames of both rivalry and friendship. Players are tasked with fulfilling the wishes of the town’s children and creating the most magnificent gifts. It's a game where creativity meets competition.

The Role of QBBC in MerryGiftmas

The curious addition of QBBC introduces an intriguing element of surprise in the MerryGiftmas gameplay. QBBC, which stands for Quick Build Bonus Challenge, is a unique feature that challenges players to construct gifts under certain restrictions. This can involve limited materials, time constraints, or specific themes, adding layers of strategy and urgency to the game.

The QBBC is activated at random points during the game, signaled by a special QBBC card. Once drawn, players must complete the challenge within the stipulated time. Successfully completing a QBBC can earn players bonus points and exclusive resources, which can be pivotal in the game's latter stages. The mix of creative building and tactical execution makes this feature a standout in the board gaming community, giving MerryGiftmas a distinctive edge.

Rules of MerryGiftmas

Playing MerryGiftmas is straightforward yet deeply captivating. Here’s a primer on how the game unfolds:

Setup

Begin by setting up the game board, which represents the MerryGiftmas village. Each player selects a character card, with options like Master Giftmaker or Swift Sleigh Rider, each possessing unique skills and abilities.

Players draw goal cards detailing the specific gifts needed for the children. These cards outline the resources necessary, including toy parts, wrapping paper, and decorative items, which can be collected during gameplay.

Gameplay

Each turn consists of the following phases:

• Resource Collection: Players roll dice to move around the board, collecting resources from different village areas, such as the Toy Factory or Elven Workshop.
• Gift Crafting: Using the gathered resources, players attempt to complete their goal cards, crafting gifts to score points.
• QBBC Activation: Occasionally, a player may trigger a QBBC during their turn, introducing a challenge that all players must compete in simultaneously.
• Trading and Strategy: Players can trade resources with each other to complete their gifts more efficiently. This phase requires diplomacy and strategic maneuvers to maximize advantage.

Throughout the game, players navigate the balance between collecting resources, crafting, and positioning themselves advantageously for any QBBC challenges.

Victory Conditions

The game ends when all goal cards are completed or when a set number of turns have elapsed, depending on which occurs first. Players then tally their scores based on completed gifts, QBBC successes, and bonus accomplishments. The player with the highest score is declared the Master Giftgiver of MerryGiftmas.
